The Persian Gulf Research Institute was established on 1997 in the Higher Education Development Council of the country, under the name of the Persian Gulf Studies and Research Center, following the research missions of the university and with the aim of research in the field of basic and applied research in marine biological sciences and environmental issues, and historical studies of the Persian Gulf in Persian Gulf University, Bushehr, and then it was promoted to a research institute on 2013.
This collection is one of the scientific research authorities in the southern region of the country, which by conducting research in the field of various branches of marine sciences, especially environmental studies, biotechnology and historical social issues, is currently cooperating with many executive and research bodies in the southern region and other parts of the country.

There is no doubt that research and technology has a significant contribution in accelerating and facilitating the sustainable development of the country due to its role in the production of new knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt efficient and effective strategies for its qualitative development along with quantitative development. In this regard, the role of strategic planning is undeniable. Based on this, the Persian Gulf Research Institute has prepared a strategic document and formulated its long-term mission. The main objectives of the Persian Gulf Research Institute, which indicate the general orientations of the research institute, have been formulated in four areas. These goals guarantee success in the fields of education, research and technology, infrastructure and national and international cooperation and brand creation.
